Dear Colleagues,
we are pleased to invite you to the International Conference „Sustainability – the Future of Business” which will be organised as a hybrid event on 1-2 June 2022 at the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland.
The conference – a multiplier event at the final stage of the Project Economics of Sustainability (https://econosteam.eu/) funded by the EU Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships Programme, will bring together representatives of the academia- scientists, teachers and students, civil society, business, and decision-makers to discuss a myriad of aspects of sustainability and explore opportunities of shaping economic development and social well-being on its premises.
The conference is free of charge and there will be two options of joining in: at the CNTI building, the University of Economics in Katowice, or online (details and links will be provided later). Accomodation – self-catered, not included. The list of suggested hotels will be available in March.

Guillaume Lafortune
Guillaume Lafortune is Vice President and Head of the Paris Office at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). He joined SDSN in 2017 to coordinate the production of the annual Sustainable Development Report (which includes the SDG Index and Dashboards) and other projects on SDG data and statistics. Previously, he served as an economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) working on public governance reforms and statistics. He was one of the lead advisors for the production of the 2015 and 2017 flagship statistical report Government at a Glance. He also contributed to analytical work related to public sector
efficiency, open government data, and citizens’ satisfaction with public services. Earlier, Guillaume worked as an economist at the Ministry of Economic Development in the Government of Quebec (Canada).
Prof. Manuel Merchán
Professor at EAE Business School (Madrid, Spain), professor at University “Alfonso X El Sabio”, Schools of Psychology, Anthropology and Veterinary (Madrid, Spain), President and CEO of the Association Chelonia International, with ongoing projects in Spain, Portugal, Uganda and Mexico. More than 50 publications regarding sustainable development and conservation of wildlife. General Coordinator of more than 60 projects in America, Africa and Europe working with public and private institutions such as the Spanish International Cooperation Agency (AECID), the Man and Biosphere Program (MaB – UNESCO), the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF – USA), the Spanish Environment Ministry, the University of Costa Rica (UCR) or the Coca Cola Foundation (Atlanta, USA).
